If you want peace, work for justice

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a community-based group that works to ensure fair wages for the largely immigrant population working in the fields of Florida, has been awarded by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development for its work fighting poverty and modern-day slavery.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is a domestic anti-poverty and social justice program run by U.S. Catholic bishops. The 2008 Sister Margaret Cafferty Development of People Award honors the CIW for their “commitment to the development of people and the elimination of poverty.”

Director of Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Ralph McCloud, presented the CIW’s Gerardo Reyes with a framed print of the quote: “If you want peace, work for justice.”

Congratulations.
